James Wallace Binns
James Wallace Binns (born September 1, 1940 in Harrogate ) is a British Middle Latin and New Latin philologist .
Life
He received his Bachelor's degree in Birmingham, a Master of Arts from the University of Birmingham in 1964 (with a thesis on The manuscript poems of William Gager ), and in 1965 the Doctor of Philosophy in Birmingham (with a thesis on William Gager's Dido, Minor drama, and printed poems ) and in 1992 Doctor of Letters. He was a Lecturer in Middle Latin at the University of Birmingham (1965–1984), Lecturer in Latin in York (1984–1991) and since 1991 Reader in Latin at the University of York . He has been a member of the British Academy since 2004 .
