Jamil al-Majdalawi

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Jamil al-Majdalawi ( Arabic جميل المجدلاوي, DMG Ǧamīl al-Maǧdalāwī ; * in Simsim ) is a Palestinian politician ( PFLP ). He was born northeast of Gaza City , in a former Palestinian village whose residents were evicted in 1948.

Functions

Al-Majdalawi is a member of the Politburo of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), a member of the Palestinian Central Council (PCC) and, as one of the three delegates of the "Martyr Abu Ali Mustafa Group", a member of the Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC). In 2007 he was chairman of the refugee commission on the Legislative Council.

Positions

Al-Majdalawi rejects the roadmap and regards the armed struggle as a legitimate means of liberating Palestine. The Palestinian left should resort to all forms of struggle. He also rejects the Oslo Accords , wants to drive out the occupiers, wants a two-state solution and insists on the right of the Palestinians to return to their original villages and to Jerusalem as the capital of the future Palestine. He said the weapons of the PFLP would keep pointing at the Israeli occupation until it was finally over. The Zionism holds al-Majdalawi for a racist ideology. His long-term goal is the creation of a secular unitary state:

"The strategic, long-term goals with respect to Palestine concern the creation of a just and peaceful region as a whole. Such a solution can only be realized through the creation of a democratic, secular state which can be home to all the peoples of the region, irrespective of their skin color, religion, or ethnicity.
