The Jamison Valley ( Jamison Valley ) is part of the Coxs River Canyon in the Blue Mountains in the Australian state of New South Wales . It is located a few kilometers south of Katoomba , the capital of the Blue Mountains.

The valley was named by Lachlan Macquarie , the governor of the then British colony of New South Wales after Sir John Jamison (1776-1844) a well-known landowner and doctor. In 1815 Jamison and Macquarie had taken a trip to the Blue Mountains and seen the valley along the way. In 1836 the British naturalist Charles Darwin also visited the valley and was impressed by its beauty.

The valley extends over twelve kilometers in north-south direction and about ten kilometers in west-east direction. The valley is mostly covered by eucalyptus forests. In some corners (near water points) there is also temperate rainforest . The valley is a popular destination for hikers and camping tourists.
