Jan-Holger Mauss (* 1963 in Hamburg ) is a German artist.

Life

From 1990 to 1995 Jan-Holger Mauss studied photography and fine arts at the Hamburg University of Fine Arts with Kilian Breier and Werner Büttner and in 1995 he received his diploma in visual communication with distinction. In his work, Jan-Holger Mauss deals with interactive performances in the art world and the relationship between commercial graphics, visual communication and sexuality. In his net bikini project, which has been running since the beginning of 2000, he has made himself available to renowned photo artists - wearing only a crochet bikini designed by the artist Eva Grubinger . In his series of works entitled ONS, Mauss processes offset and letterpress images: he erases the actors from the so-called DON porno magazines from the 1970s and in this way produces rooms, landscapes and objects that appear surreal, which through the etchings the meaning outside change their original context.

Trivia

Jan-Holger Mauss made a guest appearance under the stage name Holger-Jan Katz at a performance in the Hamburg scene club Hafenklang in the detective novel No Getting Through the Authors' Team Bohnet Pleitgen .
