Jan scratches

Jan Kratzer (born June 12, 1970 in Gera ) is a German sociologist and economist . Since 2009 he has been a university professor for entrepreneurship and innovation management and since 2010 academic director of the Center for Entrepreneurship (CfE) at the Technical University of Berlin .

Life

Jan Kratzer is one of two children of the sports psychologist Hannes Kratzer (* 1945) and his wife of the industrial engineer Dagmar Kratzer (* 1946, nee Beate), who works as a self-employed accountant. His younger brother Jens Kratzer (* 1973) works as managing director and restaurateur.

Jan Kratzer completed a three-year apprenticeship as a skilled worker for animal production before studying sociology at the University of Leipzig from 1991 to 1996 . He then moved to the Interuniversity Center for Social Science Theory and Methodology (ICS) at the University of Groningen and did his doctorate on "Communication and performance: An empirical study in innovation teams". At the University of Groningen he was appointed Assistant Professor of Quantitative Research Methods in the Faculty of Economics in 2000 and Associate Professor of Strategy and Innovation Management in 2007.

Jan Kratzer has published in various specialist journals, including the Journal of Consumer Research, Economy and Society, Research Policy, Journal of Cleaner Production and Sustainability.

He has received several international prizes for his research work, including twice the Tudor Rickards Best Paper Award from the journal "Creativity and Innovation Management" (2006 and 2008) and once the Thomas P Hustad Best Paper Award from the journal "Journal of Product Innovation Management" ( 2016) and the Christer Karlsson Best Paper Award at the 19th International Product Development Management Conference, Manchester UK (2012).

At the Technical University of Berlin, he set up the Center for Entrepreneurship (CfE) and the international master’s program MSc “Innovation Management, Entrepreneurship and Sustainability” and heads them.
