Jan Málek
Jan Málek (born May 18, 1938 in Prague ) is a Czech composer .
Life
Málek studied at the Prague Conservatory - from 1956 in the folk instrument department of the folklorist Albert Pek , from 1958 to 1961 composition with Miloslav Kabeláč . From 1963 he was music director, from 1965 music dramaturg at the radio in Pilsen and from the late 1960s he was also an employee of the local electroacoustic laboratory. In 1976 he became musical director of the Czechoslovak Radio in Prague.
After experimental beginnings in the field of new music, influences of folklore and early music became increasingly evident in Málek's compositions. In addition to chamber music works, he composed a. a. three symphonies, a piano concerto and a concerto for bagpipes and vocal works, including the great Requiem super L'homme armé (1998).
