Jane Iwanow Sandanski (also written Jane Ivanov Sandanski or Yane Ivanov Sandanski , Bulgarian Яне Сандански ; born May 18, 1872 in Wlachi , today in Bulgaria ; † April 22, 1915 in Melnik , Bulgaria) was a revolutionary and is considered a leading figure in the BMARK ( Bulgarian Macedonian-Adrianople Revolutionary Committee / Български Македоно-Одрински революционни комитети , a predecessor organization of the IMRO ). In his honor, the Bulgarian city Sweti Wratsch was renamed Sandanski .

He supported the Young Turks and after their revolution (1908) was a member of the Ottoman People's Federal Party (Bulgarian section) . Under his leadership, the city of Melnik was conquered in the First Balkan War on October 17, 1912 . This ended the centuries-old Ottoman rule over the city. His grave is now near the Roschen monastery near Melnik.
