Janet Rice

Janet Rice (born November 18, 1960 in Melbourne ) is an Australian politician of the Australian Greens .

Life

Rice studied metrology at the University of Melbourne Met. As an environmental activist, she was involved in various environmental projects in Australia. She played a leading role in the creation of the Errinundra National Park . From 1993 to 1997 she worked for the Bicycle Victoria organization. She was first a member of the City Council of Maribyrnong and then Mayor of Maribyrnong, since 2014 she has been a Senator in the Senate of Australia . She lives in Footscray with her spouse Penny Whetton and has two children.
