The Janusz Korczak Comprehensive School is a comprehensive school in the city center of Neuss . The school was named in 1990 after the Polish doctor, children's book author and educator Janusz Korczak . It has had the “Career Choice Seal” since 2007 and the “Fairness Seal” since 2010. The school cooperates with several companies such as Kaufhof , Dachser and Opel Dresen.
history
From 1990 onwards, the comprehensive school shared the premises at Platz am Niedertor with the Theodor-Schwann-Gymnasium . Since it was closed in 1992, she has been using the school building alone. Another location in 1990 was that of the former secondary school on Sternstrasse. From 1991 the building of the expiring Kardinal-von-Galen-Hauptschule was used as a second location, since the school year 1993/94 only.
The upper level of the comprehensive school has been cooperating with the Marie-Curie-Gymnasium in Neuss since the school year 2000/2001 . Since the 2007/08 school year there have been Spanish classes from the 11th grade. In 2009 the school was renovated and received a self-learning center (SLZ) with an electronic board . In the 2011/12 school year, the school will be the pilot school for the sinus (safe on the web) project of the Rheinkreis Neuss . In 2014, the comprehensive school offered an entry-level class for students with a migration background who only had poor knowledge of German. The comprehensive school has been a Fairtrade school since 2016 .
The Janusz Korczak Comprehensive School will take part from the 2018/19 school year as one of 150 secondary schools in a ten-year nationwide project to promote the gifted.
