Giardino Hotels
The Giardino Hotels are hotels of the Swiss Giardino Group AG based in Beckenried , Canton Nidwalden . They emerged from the first hotel of the Giardino Group , the Giardino Ascona in the Swiss canton of Ticino .
Company history
The Giardino Ascona was opened in 1986 by the hotelier Hans C. Leu . Hans Leu made the five-star hotel in Ascona one of the leading hotels in the country.
He later handed over the management of Giardino Ascona to Daniela and Philippe Frutiger, who had both spent a large part of their careers at Giardino Ascona. The couple and two other business partners founded the Giardino Group, which today includes Giardino Ascona, Giardino Lago , a palazzo in Minusio on Lake Maggiore and the Giardino Mountain resort in Champfèr near St. Moritz . In December 2015, the portfolio was expanded with the opening of the Atlantis by Giardino in Zurich . All of the Ecco fine dining restaurants in Ascona, St. Moritz and Zurich under the direction of chef Rolf Fliegauf in the Giardino Hotels have two Michelin stars and 18 Gault Millau points .
