Jardín Botánico-Histórico La Concepción
The Jardin Botanico-Historico La Concepcion is a tropical garden in Malaga ( Spain ). The garden is located on the northern outskirts of Málaga, about five kilometers from the city center.
The land was acquired in 1855 by businessman Jorge Loring y Oyarzábal and his wife Amalia Heredia Livermore. They created an extensive garden with palace-like buildings, greenhouses, pavilions, fountains and waterfalls. The botanical diversity consists of around two thousand species of tropical, subtropical and indigenous plants and over a hundred different species of palms, bamboo and aquatic plants. After the economic decline of the family and the death of the owners, the area was bought in 1911 by a wealthy couple from Bilbao.
In 1943 the complex was declared an art-historically significant garden ( Bien de Interés Cultural ). In the spring of 1990 the city of Málaga bought the garden for the equivalent of around three and a half million euros. Numerous renovations were carried out over four years, for example the creation of themed gardens around the historic garden: palm trees, orchids, carnivorous plants, cacti, succulents and a collection of eighty trees from all over the world. On June 21, 1994 the garden was opened to the public.
Inside the complex is the palace of La Concepción, the Casa Palacio . The building was built in 1857 by the German architect August Orth . It is a neoclassical style villa, extends over two floors, has a central courtyard and has a total area of 1,729 square meters.

The opening times are 9:30 am to 7:30 pm (April to September) and 9:30 am to 4:30 pm (October to March). Closed on Monday.
Entry costs 5.20 euros in the normal tariff. There are various discounted prices. Free entry on Sundays from 3:30 pm to 7:30 pm (April to September) and 9:30 am to 4:30 pm (October to March).
