Jason Hettenbaugh (born August 17, 1980 ) is an American biathlete .

Jason Hettenbaugh lives in Lima and starts for the Western NY Biathlon association . In 2006 he tried to qualify for the summer biathlon world championships for the first time , but failed with places seven in the sprint and six in the pursuit in the national championship and qualification races. In winter he is not one of the outstanding biathletes in his country, but can show some good results and was 18 in the overall ranking of the Biathlon-NorAm-Cup 2007/08 . Hettenbaugh started a second attempt to qualify for a summer World Cup in 2009. In the elimination races, which were again the US Championships in Summer Biathlon, he finished fifth in the sprint, four in the pursuit and six in the mass start and qualified just ahead of Keith Woodward for the last free starting place. At the cross-country competitions at the 2009 Summer Biathlon World Championships in Oberhof , the American finished 44th in the sprint and 40th in the pursuit, making him the second best American behind Sam Morse .
