Scientists from the British Discovery Investigations named it in 1929 after the name of Jason Harbor. Its namesake is the ship Jason , with which the Norwegian whaling entrepreneur Carl Anton Larsen visited this bay on his Antarctic voyage from 1892 to 1894.
