Coaching

While both his father-in-law and son were under contract with Deportivo Guadalajara for years , Hernández never played for that club. He later coached his reserve team before resigning in the spring of 2010 because the club refused to give him permission to see his son play live at the World Cup in South Africa: “I asked permission to watch my son play, but I was denied it. We thought back and forth in the family for two days. Then my decision was made to terminate the contract because I wanted to go to the World Cup and see my boy play. The work is secondary. "

family

Chicharo's son Javier (* 1988) is also a soccer player and is named after his father Chicharito (pea or small pea). His father-in-law is Tomás Balcázar .
