biography

Jens Müller completed an apprenticeship as a skilled worker for BMSR technology in Berlin-Weißensee . He began his career as a musician in the East German band Kleinkariert . In 1987 he became the drummer of the cult band The Others . In 1989 the American music manager Jack Rieley , who had also worked with the East German group City , gave the band a gig in West Berlin.

Rieley wanted to make Müller an international star. Under the stage name "J." (English pronunciation: Jaye ), the recordings for Müller's debut album of the same name were made in London. However, the Berlin Wall fell on November 9, 1989 , and the album flopped due to lack of interest. In 1990, before German reunification , Müller left Berlin and moved to Paris. In 1992 the second album We Are the Majority , which was recorded in Paris, was released.

In 1994 Müller went to the USA, where he - as Jaye Muller  - founded the Internet company JFax in 1995 together with Jack Rieley . According to company legend, Müller got the idea when he was on tour through England's colleges and important fax messages did not reach him because he had already traveled on. In 2000 - the company was renamed j2 Global Communications, Inc.  - Müller withdrew from active business, but remained the main shareholder.

Since the turn of the millennium, Müller has been musically active again. Among other things, he released several albums with Ben Patton under the name Muller and Patton . Since 2015 Müller has been releasing music again under the name Count Jaye & The Hard Beats . The album Bandages Cover the Looting was released in 2015 and Hippo Russian Pickle Giant Blue Disguise in 2019 .
