Jazz club Villingen

The jazz club Villingen is one of the oldest German jazz clubs ; it has existed since 1961.

The club is located at Webergasse 5 in Villingen . Stars such as Ernie Watts , Eberhard Weber , Enrico Rava , Albert Mangelsdorff , Archie Shepp , but also younger musicians such as Kalle Kalima , Frederik Köster and Benedikt Jahnel played here . In the early years, musicians played again and again who made guest recordings in the MPS studio of Hans Georg Brunner-Schwer , who was on friendly terms with the jazz club.

The jazz club Villingen has been holding its concerts on Saturdays for many years; there are between thirty and forty concerts a year. In 2013 the association received an award for its program work and received the German venue award from Minister of State Bernd Neumann . Rainer Horn, Dieter Dorer and Friedhelm Schulz have been responsible for the program for a decade. In addition to the event work in the jazz cellar , the jazz club is also committed to improving the framework conditions, especially for jazz in Germany, and has played a leading role in the Baden-Württemberg Jazz Association from the start.
