Jean-Baptiste Jeangène Vilmer (born September 25, 1978 ) is a French philosopher.

Vilmer taught at the University of Montreal from 2004 to 2007, worked at the French Embassy in Turkmenistan from 2007 to 2008 , taught at Yale University from 2008 to 2009 , received his PhD in Political Science and Philosophy from the University of Montreal in 2009 and is currently doing research at the Faculty of Law from McGill University in Canada. In Germany he is known for his publications on animal ethics and the Marquis de Sade .
