Jean-Claude Fournier
Jean-Claude Fournier (born May 21, 1943 in Paris ) is a French comic book artist and author.
Life
As part of his art studies, he attended the Lycée Claude Bernard in Paris. In 1966 he met André Franquin , one of the star draftsmen of the magazine " Spirou " and responsible for its cover series. Fournier published his first comic series "Bizu" from 1967 in this magazine. When Franquin withdrew from " Spirou and Fantasio " a year later , Fournier took over the series somewhat surprisingly. At first he was even allowed to use Franquin's legally protected figure of Marsupilamis , a one-time process for the further continuation of the series “Spirou and Fantasio”. The Marsupilami was nevertheless drawn by Franquin in these volumes. Later, Fournier increasingly took up political issues, with which he opened the series to new influences. Fournier drew a total of nine albums in the series before leaving them to other illustrators in 1980 in order to concentrate fully on "Bizu" again. Ultimately, the publishing house Dupuis transferred "Spirou and Fantasio" Tome and Janry , who again made a lot more reference to André Franquin and were supposed to draw a total of 14 albums.
Since 1995 he has been drawing the series The Cannibals from Next Door , which he brought to comic life with his scriptwriter Zidrou .
