Philippe Vandevelde
Philippe Vandevelde alias Tome (stage name ) (born February 24, 1957 in Brussels ; † October 5, 2019 ) was a Belgian comic artist and author.
Vandevelde began his comic career as an assistant to Dupa , Turk and Bob de Groot . He met Janry during his studies at the Institut National des Arts Visuel in Sint Pieterswoluwe near Brussels and took over the comic series Spirou and Fantasio with him in 1982 . Between 1984 (Volume 31, The Mysterious Virus ) and 1998 (Volume 44, The Hunt for Spirou ), 14 volumes were published by Carlsen Comics . Tome and Janry have been devoting themselves continuously to the series The Little Spirou since 1987 .
In addition to his work for Spirou and Fantasio , Tome is best known in Germany for his Soda series . This was initially drawn by Luc Warnant, from volume 3 onwards by Bruno Gazzotti. In Germany, the series was published by Salleck Publications and currently comprises 13 volumes.
