Richthofen (noble family)
The lineage of the aristocratic family Richthofen (originally: Prätorius von Richthofen ) began with Sebastian Schmidt called Faber or Fabricius (1515–1553), archdeacon in Bernau near Berlin , later senior pastor in Potsdam .
history
His son Samuel Faber (1543-1605), municipal judge , counsel and Mayor of Frankfurt (Oder) was, since 1562 adopted son of a cousin of his mother, the Elector of Brandenburg , archiepiscopal of Magdeburg and episcopal half städter Privy Councilor Paul Praetorius (only: Schultze or mayor , later: Scultetus , then: Praetorius ), landlord of Königsborn and Biederitz, who had received an imperial letter of arms in 1561 .
Samuels son Tobias Praetorius (1576-1644), Lord on bush Vorwerk in Schmiedeberg in Silesia , was gräflich schaffgot'scher Amtshauptmann the rule Schmiedeberg.
After all, it was his son Johann Praetorius (1611–1664), landlord on Rauske near Striegau and Hertwigswaldau near Jauer , who was raised to the bohemian knighthood on July 29, 1661 .

Former castles and mansions owned by the Barons von Richthofen, Hertwigswaldau line and Kohlhöhe line:
Hertwigswaldau
The castle or mansion in Hertwigswaldau (Snowidza) was built by Otto von Nostitz and acquired by Johann Praetorius von Richthofen in the 17th century. The increase in the coat of arms with the predicate "von Richthofen" dates from 1661. In 1786 it became the property of Samuel Freiherr von Richthofen. After 1876 the palace was rebuilt by the new owners of Dallwitz . Originally the building was surrounded by a moat. After 1945 the castle was used as the administrative seat of a state estate (gardening company); today it is privately owned. The palace garden (park with plane trees, ash and maple trees) dates from the 18th century.
Cabbage height
The palace or manor house Kohlhöhe (Goczalków Górny) was built in 1615 by Baron von Schliewitz. A reconstruction in the neo-Gothic style was carried out in 1889 by Karl Freiherr von Richthofen . The arched entrance hall was painted with a Richthofen family tree. The building is preserved, but in need of renovation. The landscape park (north of the manor house) was redesigned according to plans by Eduard Petzold in 1889, today it is largely destroyed.
Small roses
The castle in Klein Rosen near Groß Rosen (Rogoźnica) was built around 1570 as a moated castle in Renaissance style as a four-wing complex with two bridges and a tower architecture. The castle was acquired by Samuel Praetorius von Richthofen in 1734. Bolko Freiherr von Richthofen carried out extensive renovations in 1878, especially in the east wing. The rooms on the ground floor and the hall have been preserved with their original vaults. A stone entrance gate was erected at the driveway, which until 1977 was adorned with a cast-iron family coat of arms carried by two lions. Under this was the motto of the house: "Happy in hope".
There is no building today. Only the stone archway has been preserved.
Malitsch
The Malitsch Manor (today Małuszów in the rural municipality of Męcinka ) was owned by the family in the 18th century. After several changes of ownership, it came to Heinrich Wilhelm von Sprenger in 1842. The castle he extended has been preserved.
