Eugen von Richthofen
Karl Gottlieb Julius Adalbert Eugen Freiherr von Richthofen (born March 9, 1810 in Krippitz , † August 30, 1896 in Breslau ) was a Prussian major general .
Life
origin
Eugen came from the Hertwigswaldauer line of the von Richthofen family . He was the son of State Elder Wilhelm von Richthofen (1781–1861) and his wife Charlotte, born Freiin von Nordeck zur Rabenau (1781–1857). His younger brother Lothar (1817-1893) was the country's elder.
Military career
Richthofen attended the grammar school in Glogau and the knight academy in Liegnitz . On June 1, 1827, he joined the 1st Uhlan Regiment of the Prussian Army and was promoted to Second Lieutenant by February 1831 . Richthofen was assigned to the General War School from mid-October 1833 to the end of July 1836 for further training . This was followed by a year-long command of the teaching squadron. On April 7, 1842 he was ordered to serve as adjutant of the 12th Cavalry Brigade in Neisse . From mid-April 1846 Richthofen was active in the same capacity in the 12th Division and rose two months later to Prime Lieutenant . As such, he was employed in the 6th and 9th divisions in 1849 until Richthofen returned to his regular regiment at the end of 1849. After being promoted to Rittmeister , he was appointed squadron chief in mid-June 1852 . In 1857 he was accepted into the Order of St. John .
With promotion to major , Richthofen became a regular staff officer in the 2nd Dragoon Regiment on May 8, 1858 . For the duration of the mobilization on the occasion of the Sardinian War , he was given command of the mobile 2nd Landwehr Dragoons Regiment in 1859. After a brief assignment in the Uhlan Regiment "Graf Haeseler" (2nd Brandenburgisches) No. 11 , Richthofen was commissioned on April 13, 1861 with the command of the Westphalian Uhlan Regiment No. 5 and on July 29, 1861 he was appointed regiment commander . In this position he was promoted to colonel by mid-June 1865 . Richthofen led his association in 1866 during the war against Austria in the battles near Münchengrätz and Königgrätz . For his behavior, the swords were awarded to the Order of the Red Eagle III. Class, as well as the honorary commander of the Oldenburg House and Merit Order of Duke Peter Friedrich Ludwig awarded.
Insinuation à la suite of his regiment was named Richthofen on 13 June 1867, Commander of the 4th Cavalry Brigade in Bydgoszcz until he finally on 20 April 1869 the character as a major general with the statutory board for disposition was made.

Richthofen married on January 13, 1840 in Polish-Wartenberg with Eva von Teichman and Logischen (1821-1892). From the marriage emerged:
