Jean-Claude Martzloff

Jean-Claude Martzloff (born December 17, 1943 - January 10, 2018 in Paris ) was a French sinologist and mathematics historian.

Martzloff was Research Director at the CNRS at the Institut des Hautes Etudes Chinoises in Paris .

Martzloff is considered one of the leading western authorities on the history of Chinese mathematics. In 1987 he wrote a book on the history of Chinese mathematics, which is considered a standard work. Martzloff also studied the history of astronomy in China.

He died in Paris in January 2018 at the age of 74.
