Jean-Jacques Desandrouin

The Viscount Jean-Jacques Desandrouin (* May 25, 1681 ; † November 16, 1761 ) came from Lodelinsart ( Charleroi ) in the Spanish Netherlands . To spell his name there are the variants Désandrouin or Desandrouins or sometimes De Sandrouin and Androuins .

meaning

Desandrouin represents the beginning of the industrial revolution in the Walloon region . Its activities have changed the face of this region. His economic success was based on his involvement in the manufacture of glass , in metal production in forges and in the extraction and transport of hard coal . He was co-founder and owner of the most important mining company of his time, the Compagnie des mines d'Anzin , which was founded on November 19, 1757.
