Jean-Marc Delizée

Jean-Marc Delizée (born July 30, 1959 in Oignies-en-Thiérache ) is a Belgian politician of the Parti Socialiste (PS). He has been a member of the Chamber of Deputies for many years and was State Secretary in various federal governments from 2008 to 2011. At the local level he is a lay judge in the Viroinval community .

Life

Jean-Marc Delizée first studied German before receiving a license in political science and international relations from the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB).

Already in his youth he was active with the Young Socialists and in 1984 he was admitted to the cabinet of the then Prime Minister of the French Community , Philippe Moureaux (PS). After four years in tourism promotion ( Office de Promotion du Tourisme ), he returned to politics as a consultant for Bernard Anselme (PS), a successor to Moureaux.

Jean-Marc Delizée made his entry into active politics in 1993, when he was elected to the Chamber of Deputies for the PS. Since then he has been able to successfully defend this mandate. In April 2008, Delizée temporarily left the Chamber to take on an executive mandate as State Secretary for Poverty Reduction and Social Affairs in the federal governments under Yves Leterme ( CD&V ) and Herman Van Rompuy (CD&V). Since 2011, Delizée has been a simple MP again.

At the local level, Delizée is a long-time councilor of Viroinval and was mayor of this municipality from 2001 to 2004. In the municipal elections on October 8, 2006, he missed this mandate due to only 2 missing votes. Delizée has been First Alderman in Viroinval since 2012.
