Jean-Marie Schaeffer

Jean-Marie Schaeffer (born May 18, 1952 in Luxembourg ) is a French philosopher and university professor.

Life

1972–1976 Jean-Marie Schaeffer studied philosophy and graduated in 1979 with a dissertation from Gérard Genette . Since 1982 he has been a member of the Center national de la recherche scientifique (CNRS) and since 2005 he has been directeur d'études of the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS).

From 2002 to 2012 Schaeffer was also director of the Center de recherches sur les arts et le langage (CRAL) at EHESS.
