Jean-Pierre Sinapi

Jean-Pierre Sinapi (born January 28, 1949 in Cahors ) is a French film director.

Sinapi, son of an Italian immigrant family, came from a technical background and taught physics at the Lycée Diderot for five years before turning to writing. Pier Paolo Pasolini was one of his role models . His first attempt, La vallée des espoirs , had an autobiographical background and was adapted for television by Jean-Pierre Marchand in 1984.

He often works with Daniel Tonachella; since the mid-1980s he wrote several screenplays, for example for Ludo Sanders and La madonne et le dragon .

He first worked as a director in 1996 for Un arbre dans la tete . His film Uneasy Rider (Nationale 7) received the Panorama Audience Award at the 2000 Berlinale . Another well-known film directed by Sinapi is the Franco-German production Vivre me tue / Life kills me from 2002. Camping à la ferme followed in 2004 .
