Jean Amado

Jean Amado (born January 27, 1927 in Aix-en-Provence , † October 16, 1995 there ) was a French sculptor.

Life

Jean Amado was born in Aix-en-Provence in 1927. After completing his baccalaureate , he did an apprenticeship in a ceramic studio in his native town from 1947. From 1949 he produced his own ceramics. From 1950 he worked regularly with architects (including Fernand Pouillon ). Using a technique of glazed ceramics, numerous reliefs, sculptures, fountains and plaza designs were created and, since 1956, attempts have been made with fired concrete, which is colored throughout the mass. The first solo exhibition took place in 1970 at the Jeanne Bucher Gallery in Paris. Since then he has participated in numerous solo and collective exhibitions.

Amado lived and worked all his life in Aix-en-Provence. He was married to the artist Jo Amado since 1951.
