Jean Lacassagne
Jean Lacassagne (born January 2, 1886 in Lyon , † January 1960 in Lyon) was a French doctor and argotologist .
life and work
Jean Lacassagne, son of Alexandre Lacassagne , was a doctor of medicine from 1916 and later head of clinic (Hôpital de l'Antiquaille in Lyon). As a specialist in skin and venereal diseases, he had a lot to do with patients from the underworld, whose argot he studied and lexicographed in a dictionary: L'argot du milieu (Paris 1928, 293 pages, with a foreword by Francis Carco ; other editions with Pierre Devaux, 1935, 1948, 1952).
Lacassagne was Knight of the Legion of Honor (1925).
