Jean M. Davison

Jean M. Davison (* in Glens Falls ) is an American classical archaeologist .

Davison graduated from the University of Vermont (AM 1941, BA 1944). After the war she worked for the US Foreign Service in Vienna and Athens. She then studied at Yale University , where she received her doctorate in 1957 with a dissertation on Attic-geometric pottery workshops. From 1955 until her retirement in 1977 she taught Greek, Latin and Ancient History in the Classics Department and the History Department at the University of Vermont. She took part in excavations in Italy, Greece, Petra and Sardinia.
