Karl-Ewald Tietz

Karl-Ewald Tietz (born December 12, 1941 in Pammin, Pomerania ; † November 2, 2011 ) was a German specialist in German studies , educator and folklorist .

Life

Karl-Ewald Tietz, who comes from Western Pomerania , grew up on the island of Rügen after the end of the Second World War . At the Ernst Moritz Arndt University of Greifswald , he studied pedagogy with a focus on German and Slavic studies . He then embarked on a scientific career in the field of didactics and methodology of German language and literature . He received his doctorate in 1978. After completing his habilitation in 1983, he became a professor at the Ernst-Moritz-Arndt University of Greifswald , where he taught until 1999. As editor and author, he has published numerous papers and essays on the methodology of German teaching .

Tietz devoted himself to the history and literature of Western Pomerania and especially the island of Rügen and published collections of fairy tales and legends from Pomerania , Germany and Europe. For many years he was a member of the advisory board of the European Fairy Tale Society and in 1992 co-founder and chairman of the Ernst Moritz Arndt Society, on whose behalf he published writings on the life and work of Ernst Moritz Arndt . The Rügen Cultural Foundation of the then Rügen district honored him with the 2007 Culture Prize.
