Jean Pestré
Jean Pestré also Abbé Pestré (* 1723 in Saint-Geniez-d'Olt ( Département Aveyron ), † 1821 in Paris ) was a French theologian and encyclopedist .
Live and act
He worked closely with the two Abbés Claude Yvon (1714–1791) and Jean-Martin de Prades . All three shared an apartment in Paris from 1751 and contributed with their work to the first volume of the Encyclopédie by Denis Diderot and Jean-Baptiste le Rond d'Alembert , published in June 1751 . They helped draft the articles that were signed with the letter "C". Furthermore, the lemmas : Philosophy of Francis Bacon , baconisme ou Philosophy of Bacon , happiness, bonheur , Kabale cabale , defamation, calomnie , Campanella, Canadians, canadiens , Cardan, Cartesianism, cartésianisme and complacency , complaisance for volumes II and III by Abbé Pestré written.
He earned his living temporarily as a tutor and educator of the later lawyer Antoine Allut (1743-1794), who was guiollinated during the French Revolution .
