Antoine Allut

Antoine Allut (born October 23, 1743 in Montpellier , † June 25, 1794 Paris ) was a French glass manufacturer, lawyer, politician and encyclopaedist .

His father was the glass manufacturer Antoine Allut, senior (1721–1786) and his mother Jeanne Bénédicte Imbert (approx. 1724–1746), the couple had been married since January 15, 1743 and had three children. Antoine Allut had two sisters, the later writer and wife of Jean Verdier, Suzanne Verdier (1745–1813) and Elisabeth Allut (1746–1748). The father had employed the theologian and encyclopedist Jean Pestré as a tutor for his children.

On September 18, 1764, Antoine Allut married his future wife Marguerite Angélique Pomier. From this marriage came a daughter, Justine Allut. His father was a glass manufacturer - La manufacture de Glaces de Rouelles (Haute-Marne) - and so Allut devoted himself extensively to researching glasses, since he took over his father's manufacture . From 1761 he worked intensively in his father's glass factory. This gave him, in 1766, access to the Académie des sciences et lettres de Montpellier . In 1766 he also took over the management of the family business, the glass factory in Rouelles ( Champagne-Ardenne region ). He was also in correspondence with Georges-Louis Leclerc de Buffon and Louis Bernard Guyton de Morveau .

In 1770 he moved to Uzès and became a lawyer, advocat . Allut took an active part in the French Revolution . In 1791 he became a member of the Legislative Assembly, député à l'Assemblée Législative , more precisely, he held the mandate à l'Assemblée nationale or à la Chambre des députés from September 9, 1791 to September 20, 1792.

He edited the article Manufactures of the glass for the Encyclopaedia of Denis Diderot .

He was guillotined on Wednesday June 25, 1794 . His body was buried in the Cimetière de Picpus cemetery in Paris .
