Jean Ziegler (Romanist)

Jean Ziegler (born November 6, 1907 , † April 16, 2001 ) was a French Romance studies and Baudelaire specialist.

life and work

Ziegler was (as the son of Baudelaire editor Jacques Crépet ) grandson of Eugène Crépet (1827-1892), who knew Charles Baudelaire personally, bought his estate and published it (together with a biography).

Ziegler was (with Claude Pichois ) the author of an important Baudelaire biography and editor of part of the Baudelaire correspondence.
