Professional career

The 1.70-meter tall left-hander started his professional career in 1976 with a draw after four rounds. In 1979, Chandler won his first title - the USBA bantamweight belt. The NABF title followed a few months later . 1980 "Joltin" Jeff Chandler then went to the World Boxing Association (WBA) - world championship fight against the previously undefeated defending champion Julian Solis . Chandler won by technical knockout in round 14. A year later he boxed a draw with Eijiro Murata, whom he beat early in the rematch in the same year, as well as in the third meeting in 1983. He also defeated Solis prematurely in the rematch. In 1983, Chandler won super bantamweight against Hector Cortez without losing his bantamweight championship belt on points. 2 months later, Chandler lost in a non-title fight for the first time as a professional to Oscar Muniz. Just 5 months later, after the third fight against Murata, Jeff Chandler beat Muniz prematurely in round 7 in his ninth defense of the title. In April 1984, the undefeated Richie Sandoval knocked him out in the 15th and final round.

End of career

Losing the WBA bantamweight belt title in 1984 was Joltin Jeff Chandler's last fight. He then ended his career as an active professional boxer, as the risk of blindness increased after an eye operation.

After his career

In 2000 he was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in New York. He ended his career with 33 wins, 2 losses and 2 draws.
