Festa da Senhora da Pena
The Festa da Senhora da Pena (also Romaria de Nossa Senhora da Pena , pilgrimage of Our Lady of Punishment ) is a festival with a procession for the devotion of Mary in the northern Portuguese district of Vila Real . It was first registered in documents from 1752. It is celebrated around September 8th, the Catholic holiday of the Birth of Mary .

The festival and the procession always start on the second Sunday in September at the shrine of Senhora da Pena, which is located in the parish of Mouçós near Vila Real . The celebrations take place every year in a different village in the parish of Mouçós, with a total of eleven of the parish's twenty villages alternating between hosting the festival. These include:
- Magarelos, Sanguinhedo, Abobeleira,
- Jorjais, location, Varge, Alvites,
- Sequeiros, Cigarrosa, Pena de Amigo and Lagares.

A procession of lights takes place on Friday . Saturday is characterized by horse races, cattle markets and sporting events. The main attraction of the festival on Sunday are the biblical figures, some of which are carried by more than 100 men during the procession. The largest figure is about 23 meters high. The procession is carried out with hundreds of biblical figures, these figures are carried within a radius of around one kilometer around the shrine. The festival lasts four days, with fireworks every day at midnight . The fraternization of the congregations will conclude on Monday.
