Jeff Skiba

Jeffrey Skiba (born April 28, 1984 ) is an American athlete .

life and career

Due to a missing fibula , Skiba was amputated the left lower leg below the knee at the age of 10 months.

He started athletics in high school at the age of 11 . There he was able to finish the competitions successfully, especially in the high jump. Supported by a high-quality prosthetic foot , he jumped 1.88 meters early on.

With an unofficial jump of 2.15 meters, Jeff Skiba currently holds the high jump world record in the F44 category . In addition to his specialty high jump, Skiba is also active in the disciplines of 100 meters , 200 meters , long jump and pentathlon .

In 2007, Jeff Skiba was the only "amputee" athlete to date to take part in the US national athletics championships. He currently lives and trains in Chula Vista , California .
