Scientific work

Since the beginning of his scientific studies, Reswan has dedicated himself to researching the manuscripts kept in the St. Petersburg archives, which he published as monographs and essays. Several articles are devoted to the topic of Russian-Arab relations. The most important results of this work include the studies of the holy book of Islam, the Koran , especially its history, interpretation and translation. His monograph “The Koran and its world” ( Russian Коран и его мир ), also available as an English version under the title “The Quran and its world”, received great attention in Russia and at international level. Reswan devoted himself in detail to the scientific analysis of the oldest known manuscript, which is known as the "Koran of the 'Uthman" and has been preserved in a copy of the Central Asian Muslims (Коран' Усмана (Катта-Лангар, Сункт-Петар .Бункт-Петер , Ташкент) / The Qur'an of 'Uthman (Katta-Langar, Sankt-Peterburg, Bukhara, Tashkent) [Saint Petersburg, 2004, Russian-English edition, ISBN 978-5-85803-265-6 ]). Reswan published the text of this manuscript and provided it with a full lexical-grammatical commentary. A new translation into Russian is currently in progress. An invitation from the Italian professor Sergio Noja Noseda (1931–2008) was made possible by Reswan with the editorial committee of the international edition project “Early Qur'ans. The era of the Prophet, the Right Guided Caliphes and the Ummayades "(Noseda Foundation, Italy). In this context, he examined and published mainly manuscripts in the context of the oldest editions of the Koran. Manuscript research also focuses on a series of studies on the Karl Fabergé collection (Oriental manuscripts of Karl Fabergé, 2012).
