Jem Carney
Jem Carney (born November 5, 1856 in Birmingham , England , † September 8, 1941 in London , England) was an English boxer in the bare knuckle era.
The son of Irish parents began boxing in 1881.
He was unbeaten when he boxed against Jake Hyams in the lightweight on December 20, 1884 for the English champions. Carney won this fight after 1 hour, 45 minutes and 45 brutal rounds and thus captured that title.
Carney was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 2006 .
