Jens Scheiner

Jens J. Scheiner (* 1976 in Sibiu ) is a German scholar of Islam .

Life

From 1997 to 2003 he studied Islamic studies as well as economic and social history and public law at the Eberhard-Karls-Universität Tübingen and the University of Edinburgh . From 2008 to 2010 he was a research assistant at the Institute for Islamic Studies at the Free University of Berlin . From 2008 to 2011 he was a lecturer at the Leuphana University of Lüneburg . After completing his doctorate in Islamic Studies in 2009 at Radboud Universiteit Nijmegen , he was junior professor and junior research group leader at the Courant Research Center “Education and Religion” (EDRIS) at Georg-August University Göttingen from 2010 to 2016 . Since 2016 he has been professor for “Islamic Studies with a focus on the history and cultures of the Middle East” in Göttingen .
