Jens Staudenmayer

Jens Staudenmayer (born September 29, 1967 ) is a former basketball referee and has been the head of the sports department at the Basketball Bundesliga since 2009 .

Staudenmeyer used to play basketball himself, but concentrated on his work as a coach very early on. When he was 16 years old, he obtained his first referee license. Up until his studies he continued to work as a referee and coach at the same time, but then gave up his coaching activity during his studies.

Staudenmayer acted as an arbitrator on both a national and international level. His activity as a referee in higher leagues began in 1985 when he passed the C-exam. Over the years he gained further experience as a basketball referee and in 1995 he was used for the first time in the 1st Bundesliga. In 2000 he acquired his FIBA referee license and was thus entitled to whistle internationally. He whistled a total of 850 games, 105 of them at international level.

His duties at the Bundesliga as head of the sports department include several areas: On the one hand, he is responsible for the referee area, for example for evaluating referee performance and training referees. On the other hand, she is responsible for other things in the sporting area such as the design of the game plan, the promotion of young talent (in the administrative area) and the further development of league guidelines. In 2015 he became a member of a joint elite sports committee of the German Basketball Federation , the Basketball Bundesliga, the 2nd Basketball Bundesliga and the regional associations, which advised the leagues and associations.
