Jeon is a pancake-like dish in Korean cuisine . In Korea, Jeon is also known as Buchimge ( 부침개 ) and Jijimi ( 지짐이 ), the latter name originating from the south and from there to Japan, where the dish is also called ( Japanese チ ヂ ミ ). Jeon means "flat baked, stretched".
The basic ingredients are water , flour and egg . They are mixed with various ingredients such as seafood and vegetables or kimchi and fried in oil. Jeon is usually eaten as a starter or as anju (food with alcoholic beverages). Jeon is also served as an important part of ceremonial menus. Typical versions are pajeon (spring onion pancake) and kimchijeon (kimchi pancake).
