Jeremy Howe

Sir Jeremy Frederick Howe (* 1929 ) was (in the early 1960s, staff english British commissioner ) in the British colonial administration of the former West African colony Gambia . He composed the Gambian national anthem For The Gambia Our Homeland , which has been played since the Gambia gained independence . The idea for the hymn is based on a traditional Mandinka song Foday kaba dumbuya , the text was written by his wife Virginia Julie Howe (* 1927).
