Location of Jericho on South Georgia

Jericho is a plain on South Georgia in the South Atlantic . It is located north of the former whaling station Leith Harbor at the foot of Horatio Peak .

The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named the level in 2013. It is named after the biblical "Walls of Jericho " and their collapse. The background to the naming are avalanches and landslides , which required the whaling station to move to its current location.
