- March 29 : About 20,000 people accompany the funeral procession for the late Ludwig van Beethoven . The funeral address written by Franz Grillparzer is given by the actor Heinrich Anschütz . The composer Franz Schubert is among the torchbearers
- June 4th : The first German song festival takes place in Plochingen at Pentecost , at which mainly song wreaths from southwest Germany come together.

- April 21 : World premiere of the opera La Folle de Glaris by Conradin Kreutzer at the Théâtre de l'Europe in Paris.
- April 29 : The world premiere of the opera The Wedding of Camacho by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy based on the literary model Don Quixote by Miguel de Cervantes takes place in the Royal Theater in Berlin. Although the work is performed on a side stage to Mendelsohn's dissatisfaction, it is received very positively by the audience. However, further performances fail at first due to the illness of Don Quixote, Heinrich Blume , and finally do not take place.

- October 27 : The world premiere of the opera Il pirata ( The Pirate ) by Vincenzo Bellini takes place at the Teatro alla Scala di Milano in Milan. The libretto was written by Felice Romani based on the novel Bertram or the Castle of St. Aldobrand by Charles Robert Maturin .
- November 3 : World premiere of the comic opera Le Roi et le batelier by Jacques Fromental Halévy at the Opéra-Comique in Paris
- November 21 : Premiere of the opera Le convenienze teatrali by Gaetano Donizetti . The opera was reworked in 1831 and then appeared under the title Viva la Mamma
