The trio No. 1 in B flat major for piano , violin and cello , D. 898, is a late work by Franz Schubert : Work on it began in 1827; it was completed in the following year of death of the composer. The premiere took place on January 28, 1828 at a private " Schubertiade " with Joseph von Spaun , with the composer at the piano, Ignaz Schuppanzigh (violin) and Joseph Linke (cello). It was not until 1836, eight years after Schubert's death, that the work was printed as Schubert's Opus 99 by Anton Diabelli .
