• March 26th : The Austrian composer Franz Schubert gives his first and only public concert in the pub of the Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde in Vienna .
• April 7th : The Genoese Teatro Carlo Felice opens with Vincenzo Bellini's opera Bianco e Fernando .

• Louis Spohr : Symphony No. 3 in C minor , op. 78; Concertino No. 1 in A major, op. 79; Clarinet Concerto No. 4 in E minor , WoO 20;
• Franz Schubert : The shepherd on the rock ; Fantasia in F minor for piano four hands ; Mass No. 6 ; String quintet ; Swan song (collection of songs); Piano sonatas nos. 19 to 21 (the composer's last ever works). Some of his works, composed in 1828, were performed posthumously in the following years.

• February 1st : The world premiere of the opera Ali Pascha by Janina von Albert Lortzing takes place at the Stadttheater in Münster.
• January 12th : World premiere of the opera Ulisse in Itaca by Luigi Ricci in Naples (Teatro San Carlo)
• 4th February : World premiere of the opera Saladino e Clotilde by Nicola Vaccai in Milan, (Teatro alla Scala)
• March 8 : World premiere of the second version of the opera Emilia di Liverpool by Gaetano Donizetti at the Teatro Nuovo, Naples (the first version of the opera was published in 1824).
• March 29th : World premiere of the romantic opera Der Vampyr by Heinrich Marschner at the Stadttheater in Leipzig
• May 12 : World premiere of the opera Alina by Gaetano Donizetti in Genoa (Teatro Carlo Felice)
• May 26 : World premiere of the opera Les Francs-Juges by Hector Berlioz in the Salle du Conservatoire in Paris
• July 6 : World premiere of the opera Alexi by Nicola Vaccai in Naples, Teatro San Carlo
• 2nd August : World premiere of the opera Gianni di Calais by Gaetano Donizetti in Naples (Teatro del Fondo)
• August 8 : The opera Gabriella di Vergy by Saverio Mercadante will be premiered at the Teatro Nacional de São Carlos in Lisbon.
• August 20 : World premiere of the opera Le comte Ory by Gioachino Rossini at the Grand Opéra in Paris
• October 7th : Premiere of the opera La violette by Michele Carafa in collaboration with Leborne at the Opéra-Comique, Paris.
• October 15th : World premiere of the opera Die Räuberbraut by Ferdinand Ries in Frankfurt am Main
• November 15th : Premiere of the oratorio Die Himmelfahrt Christi , by Albert Lortzing in Münster.
• December 9 : World premiere of the opera Clari by Jacques Fromental Halévy at the Théâtre-Italien in Paris
