- February 7th : The world premiere of the opera I Normanni a Parigi ( The Normans in Paris ) by Saverio Mercadante takes place in Turin.
- February 15 : World premiere of the opera Il nuovo Figaro by Luigi Ricci in Parma (Teatro ducale)
- February 16 : In Prague, the premiere of the opera takes place the load carrier on the Thames by Conradin Kreutzer .
- March 10, world premiere of the opera Des Falkners Braut by Heinrich Marschner in the Leipzig City Theater
- March 13 : World premiere of the opera Ugo, conte di Parigi by Gaetano Donizetti at the Teatro alla Scala, Milan
- May 12th : The comic opera L'elisir d'amore by Gaetano Donizetti is premiered at the teatro della Canobbiana in Milan. The libretto is by Felice Romani after Eugène Scribes Le philtre . Sabine Heinefetter sings the main role. The work becomes one of the composer's most frequently performed operas.
- October 1 : The world premiere of the military play His First Campaign by Adolphe Adam takes place in Covent Garden in London.
- November 4th : Premiere of the opera Sancia di Castiglia on Gaetano Donizetti at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples.
- November 5th : The historic melodrama The Dark Diamond by Adolphe Adam will be premiered in Covent Garden in London.
