- June 24th to July 1st : The Royal Musical Festival is taking place in Westminster Abbey in London on the occasion of the supposed 100th birthday of GF Handel .
- 29 October to 5 November : In London, in protest against the exclusion of many amateur musicians from the Royal Musical Festival, the Amateur Musical Festival takes place in Exeter Hall and thus initiates the great amateur movement among musicians.
- November 10 : In the former church of Barfüsserklosters is with the 800 seats overall share Theater , the first theater of Zurich opened.

Musical theater
- January 6th : Richard Wagner completes his first opera entitled Die Feen . The work was not premiered in Munich until June 29, 1888, five years after the composer's death.
- January 13 : The first version of the opera Das Nachtlager in Granada by Conradin Kreutzer with spoken dialogues is premiered at the Theater in der Josefstadt in Vienna. The libretto is by Karl Johann Braun von Braunthal based on the play by Johann Friedrich Kind .
- February 20th : World premiere of the magic fairy tale Der Verschwender by Ferdinand Raimund with music by Conradin Kreutzer in the Theater in der Josefstadt, Vienna.
- February 27 : World premiere of the opera Rosmonda d'Inghilterra by Gaetano Donizetti at the Teatro della Pergola, Florence.
- March 8 : World premiere of the opera Un'avventura di Scaramuccia by Luigi Ricci in Milan (Teatro alla Scala)
- 3rd June : World premiere of the opera Eran due, or son tre ovvero Gli esposti by Luigi Ricci in Turin (Teatro Angennes)
- July 1st : World premiere of the comic Singspiel Tom Rick or Der Pavian by Conradin Kreutzer in the Theater in der Josefstadt, Vienna (the work is lost)
- September 25 : World premiere of the opera Le Chalet by Adolphe Adam in the Opéra-Comique, Paris
- September 28 : World premiere of the opera Die surety by Peter Joseph von Lindpaintner in Stuttgart
- October 18th : Premiere of the opera Buondelmonte by Gaetano Donizetti at the Teatro San Carlo, Naples. The second version under the new name Maria Stuarda comes out on December 30, 1835 at Scala in Milan.
- December 26th : World premiere of the opera Gemma di Vergy by Gaetano Donizetti at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan.
- December 26th : World premiere of the opera Chi dura vince ovvero La luna di miel by Luigi Ricci in Rome (Teatro Valle)
