Vilém Blodek
Vílem František Blodek (born October 3, 1834 in Prague ; † May 1, 1874 ibid) was a Czech composer .
Blodek was a student of Johann Friedrich Kittl in Prague . He was first a house music teacher with Freiherr Zielinski in Galicia, then a piano teacher in Prague and finally, from 1860, a flute teacher at the local conservatory.
At the age of 35 he became mentally ill and spent the last years of his life in the Kateřinky asylum in Prague, where he died at the age of only 39.
In addition to the successful opera Im Brunnen ( V Studni ) (1867), Blodek composed a symphony , an overture , a mass , a flute concerto, songs and piano works.
