Karl Johann Braun von Braunthal (also Karl Johann Braun Ritter von Braunthal ; born June 6, 1802 in Eger , † November 26, 1866 in Vienna ) was an Austrian writer.

Braun worked, among other things, as archivist for Prince Colloredo-Mannsfeld in Opotschno , Bohemia. He is known as the author of the libretto of Conradin Kreutzer's romantic opera Das Nachtlager in Granada, based on the play by Friedrich Kind . He also wrote a tragedy called Faust (Leipzig 1835).
